About Me
My name is Kelly Jo Severin and I am the Literacy Specialist at Coloma Elementary.
I grew up in Eau Claire, where I attended school K-12. After high school graduation, I studied Education (Bachelor's Degree) at Central Michigan University, and a few years later attended Grand Valley State University to study Educational Leadership (Master's Degree).
My husband (Matt) is a K-2 Principal in Brandywine. We have 2 children (Brody & Abby Jo) and 2 pets (Tallulah & Tucker). Brody and Abby Jo are growing up too fast, and both keep me very busy trying to watch all of their sporting events. Tallulah is the sweetest dog and Tucker is an adorable cat, who also happens to think he is the sweetest dog! In my free time I run, coach volleyball, and most importantly spend time with family and friends. My favorite places to vacation are Gulf Shores and The Grand Tetons.
I am honored to coach such an incredible staff, who are all dedicated to meeting our schoolwide goal:
Develop capable readers through the direct, explicit teaching of phonemic awareness and phonics skills based on the Science of Reading.
