About Me
Hi! I am Kelly Jo Severin, a.k.a. proud principal of Coloma Elementary.

I grew up in Eau Claire, MI on my grandparents' fruit farm. After high school graduation I studied Education (Bachelor's Degree) at Central Michigan University, later attending Grand Valley State University to study Educational Leadership (Master's Degree) while teaching here in Coloma. As a teacher I've had kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade, and 5th grade classrooms. I've also been an instructional coach, director of instructional services (state and federal), and literacy coach. Most of my career has been spent in Michigan (Decatur, Eau Claire, and Coloma), but I did teach in Stafford County, VA for a couple of years. That was an amazing adventure!
My husband, Matt, is a principal in Brandywine at Merritt Elementary (K-2). We have 2 children, Brody and Abby Jo. Brody is a freshman at Southwestern Michigan College and Abby Jo is a freshman at Coloma High School. They are both growing up too fast for this Mama, but I'm definitely enjoying every minute! We also have 2 pets, Tallulah and Tucker. Tallulah is the sweetest black lab you will EVER meet and Tucker is an adorable ragdoll cat, who also happens to think he is the sweetest black lab you will ever meet! LOL! I love the mountains and I love the ocean. If I could split my time between them, you would find me rock climbing in the Tetons and running with the sunrise in Gulf Shores.
I am honored to lead the DREAM TEAM at Coloma Elementary. Our team will spend the 25-26 school year giving students everything we've got. By the time summer rolls around, our kiddos will be happier and healthier, not to mention they will be reading machines!
IT'S ALL ABOUT KIDS.
